The Walrus and the Carpenter

The Walrus and the Carpenter is an oyster bar in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

The Walrus and the Carpenter, from Renee Erickson and partners, blends the elegance of France with the casual comfort of a local fishing pub. “The idea is to serve the highest quality food and drink in a space that is stripped of pretense and feels like home.”

The restored Kolstrand building on the south end of Ballard Avenue, is the perfect home for this rustic, light-filled, oyster haven.

In addition to oysters, check out our menu that includes locally harvested clams and mussels, house smoked fish, and specialty meats. A full selection of wine, craft cocktails, and beer are also available.

Chocolate shortbread to accompany the salted caramel panna cotta and almond brittle.

Shaved beet salad, pickled apple, orange, tarragon aioli, hazelnuts.

Tuesday means Deutz and Dabobs! Starting at 8PM, it's only $60 for a dozen Dabob Bay oysters and Deutz sparkling wine.

Sunday Ham-day! Pork from Wilderness Farms, brined for a month and then smoked at our sister restaurant Bar Melusine, served with tonnato and purple daikon.

The Walrus and the Carpenter will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day (December 24, 25, 31 & January 1). Have a great holiday!

The Walrus and the Carpenter would like to introduce you to Deutz and Dabobs! Starting today, we'll be offering a late evening special: $60 for a dozen Dabob Bay oysters and Deutz sparkling wine 8-10PM on Mondays and Tuesdays. Come in for a little refresher!
